Time seems to have stopped in the plateau of the Puna; mountainous areas with valleys and "quebradas". The towns were established on land depressions. Hills and valleys are sometimes multicolors, with slopes sometimes covered with great cactus.

Something that catches the attention from the visitor when arriving to the Argentinian Northwest, is the variety tonalities, the alive colors of the earth, of its deserts, valleys and mountains; its dawns, its sunsettings, the environmental purity, its big silences, the quietness of their people and the peculiarity of their festivities.
